How to Fix Your Airbag Light if It’s Flashing, Beeping or Off

by Nov 15, 2022TPMS Bypass

You’re driving along, and all of a sudden, you see your airbag light come on. You panic, but then remember that it just means there’s a problem with the airbag system. But what exactly does that mean? Is it dangerous? If it’s flashing or beeping, how can I fix it? Read on to learn what you need to know about your airbag system and how to fix common issues when they occur.

Why Is My Airbag Light Flashing, Beeping or Off?

If you’re driving and notice that your airbag light is flashing, beeping or off, it could be for a variety of reasons. To help you get to the bottom of what’s going on, we’ll cover the possible reasons why the airbag light is on and how to fix it.

A flashing or blinking airbag light could mean there’s a problem with either your battery or the airbag module itself. If your car needs a new battery, you need to replace it first before attempting any other repairs on the car.

If your airbag light is off but still beeping intermittently when driving around town, try to do the following:

  • Make sure all seatbelts are securely fastened at all times while driving in case sudden braking occurs. This includes rear-facing child seats as well as booster seats for older kids/teens who have outgrown standard seat belts but aren’t quite ready yet for adult-sized ones.
  • Check the battery. Similar to blinking airbag lights, the beeping sound even when the light is off can be triggered by a drained battery.

Other Reasons Why Airbag Light Flashes

To go deeper regarding flashing airbag lights, it is the most common airbag warning sign but it doesn’t mean that you need to panic. The flashing light means that one or more of your airbags is not working properly. Your car could have a fault in its diagnostic system, or there could be an issue with one of the sensors in your car.

It can also be caused by a wiring or electric problem. The first thing to check is the battery. If it’s a newer vehicle, you might have a bad battery or alternator which needs to be replaced. If your vehicle is older and has been in storage for an extended period of time, you may need to replace the battery because it has lost its charge over time.

If there are no problems with these things but your airbag is still flashing all of the time, then take out all of your fuses inside their slots one at a time until only one remains. This should help you figure out what is wrong.

If you think that addressing the airbag light is too much of an inconvenience, another option for you is to use a seat occupancy mat bypass emulator. This addresses all the airbag light issues so you wouldn’t experience the inconveniences related to a malfunctioning airbag light.

The airbag light was ON all the time, now it shuts off, then reappears stays in and then blinks twice simultaneously. Then repeats the same process over again. I took it to a mechanic and he plugged in a diagnostic reader, he said it has to do with the side airbag module? I am hoping it is a fuse or something not to major.
