Tire Sensor Light: How to Turn It Off

by Jan 16, 2021TPMS Bypass

The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is one of the most important innovations in the automobile industry. It was designed to ensure that all tires are properly inflated to prevent accidents caused by under or over-inflated tires.

When one or more of your tires are not properly inflated, a light goes up on your dashboard to warn you. For some TPMS versions, the specific tire with the incorrect pressure is indicated, so you would know which tire needs to have its pressure adjusted. What you would need to do next is to check all the tires with your tire gauge to ensure that all of them have the correct pressure level.

However, what do you do if the sensor light doesn’t go off even after all the tires are found to be properly inflated? Here are some steps you can take to try and turn the tire sensor light off.

Tire Sensor Light – Check Your Tires and Tire Sensors

Make sure that all your tires are properly inflated and that their pressure level is well within what’s recommended by the manufacturer. Do not forget to check your spare tire as it also has its own sensor.

When you are done checking all the tires, see if the tire sensor light is still on. If it still is and you’re certain that all tires including the spare are properly inflated, it’s possible that you have a malfunctioning tire sensor.

One of the most common reasons why tire sensors malfunction is because they are damaged or misaligned. This is a common occurrence amongst vehicles that have recently changed tires. You can bring your car to an automotive shop, so they can check your tire sensors.

After checking your sensors and ensuring that they’re all working correctly, your automotive shop may opt to do a complete TPMS Sensor reset. In this process, all the sensors are reprogrammed so that they would provide the proper reading for your tire pressure. This should also effectively turn the tire sensor light off.

Meanwhile, if this happens during the cold months, the tire sensor light can turn on due to a pressure drop caused by the low temperature. As such, the sensor may be misreading the tire pressure. Try to warm up the tires for a few minutes and see if that would address the concern.

How to Permanently Turn Off Your Tire Sensor Light

There is no denying that the TPMS is very useful, but it can also be a source of inconvenience and annoyance when it keeps malfunctioning. Furthermore, when the warning light turns on, it can cause distraction and increase the chance of an accident.

As a result, some vehicle owners are choosing to address the problem permanently. You can also do the same thing if you no longer want to deal with the hassle of being warned that your vehicle has a tire pressure issue even if it doesn’t.

What do you do? You can opt to turn off the tire sensor light permanently using a TPMS Bypass Emulator. This device bypasses the vehicle’s system and disables the dash light indicator.

You just have to make sure that you purchase an emulator from a trusted manufacturer. This is the best way to ensure that you are getting a product that is proven to work since it has undergone rigorous testing. With a reputable company, you can also be certain that the device is durable as it is made of high-quality materials.

By using a TPMS bypass emulator, you no longer have to deal with the inconvenience of the dash light indicator turning on even if your tire is neither underinflated nor overinflated.

It is worth mentioning, however, that you have to do your due diligence when it comes to checking the pressure level on your tires. Since your TPMS is no longer working, you have to make it a habit to check them regularly.
